The start!

Good Morning, One and All!

I'm barely functioning this morning, and I feel like I could sleep again right this minute, but I'm going to push on. To take a nap right now would be ridiculous for me, and isn't part of this whole read-a-thon about challenging yourself? At any rate, the coffee maker just beeped that it's done (thank God!), and I'll be heading off to a chair tout suite to get started!

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?
I'm reading from my crazy house in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?
There are two, actually. The first is the "Bride" series of manga by Kaoru Mori, and the second is "The Beekeeper's Apprentice" by Laurie R. King. It's sooo good, and a very good friend of mine rec'd it to me (Hi Erica!), so I'm looking forward to getting tucked into it for more than a 10 minute stretch.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?
This just goes to show what a nerd I am, but broccoli slaw. I know!  I love the stuff and have some every day like it's a requirement. :)

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!
I'm single, living in my grandparents' house with two cats (and no, I am not a crazy cat lady), and working three part-time jobs. I'm currently re-watching the "Pie in the Sky" series at a slow pace, along with a lot of Claudette Colbert and Myrna Loy movies, and I enjoy re-arranging books far more than is probably healthy.

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?
This time around I am planning on multiple naps to try and get me through, absolutely and 100%. I'm also not planning on running an errand like I used to, just because I've been gone from my house every day for nearly the past month and I'm exhausted!  My exercise/physical wake-up will be to vacuum and probably do a couple loads of laundry, maybe sort through some papers while I listen to an audiobook. I am most looking forward to actually staying home and reading! Oh, and catching up with friends, too. :)

I think that's all for now!  I might start with a book I'm halfway through so I can feel like I actually accomplished something. Hopefully, that'll motivate me to keep going and not fall asleep in the chair!

  1. Sounds like a good plan. I've also heard that The Beekeeper's Apprentice is very good. A couple of friends had recommended it to me.

  3. Paulina, I'm about 50 pages in, and as soon as I pick it up, every time, I feel like I'm tipped right into that world. It's wonderful!

Lisa, hello! Thanks for being a cheerleader, it helps so much to keep me going! So far I'm only about 50 pages in to my current book (not Beekeeper's), but it's time for breakfast and some more coffee, so hopefully I'll have it finished up soon!

  4. Good morning, Laura! Glad to see you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed (now that you've had your coffee!) The Beekeeper's Apprentice is a great Read-a-Thon book. You'll race through it.
